How do you create a light show in the middle of winter? Fill an island with durable lights, automate them to change with the music being played, go get yourself some cocoa, and watch the magic happen!
This yearly experience presents an interesting technical challenge: the event is a month long and happens in the dead of Michigan winter. Which means that anything that is left outside needs to be durable. We staked the light tubes into the ground and timed to music to compliment the rest of the zoo lights and a projection experience. The whole event was a hit, but the sea of light was magical.
