Bluewater Technologies and Bedrock, a full-service real estate firm specializing in innovative city building strategies, came together in April 2024 to create an immersive experience as part of their Decked Out Detroit initiative. Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, Remix Detroit was created to be a free interactive music lab for all ages to enjoy.
The 1,400-square-foot space has been transformed into a sensory wonderland where visitors can experiment with melodies and lights by rearranging and alternating illuminated spheres and turntables. Since its inception, Remix Detroit has showcased a variety of musical genres, including Motown, Techno, and starting in early August, Afrobeats, to coincide with the Afro Nation festival in Detroit on August 17-18. Each visit offers a fresh and fun experience.
Bedrock has expanded the initiative by partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, developing a immersive eight-week curriculum for Detroit youth to learn the art and technology of musical engineering. The program, launched on June 17, will run through September and conclude with an opportunity for students to showcase their original works on Remix Detroit’s final soundboard of the summer. Bluewater, as the technology provider, has been instrumental in equipping the space with the interactive technology and content needed to facilitate this immersive experience.
