Transforming Campus Spaces into Cutting-Edge Learning Hubs

Located in Terre Haute, Indiana, Rose-Hulman is one of the top undergraduate engineering colleges in the United States, renowned for its emphasis on STEM education. The institute is dedicated to providing students with an innovative and engaging learning environment that fosters academic excellence and hands-on problem-solving.

Some educational spaces at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology no longer met the evolving needs of modern teaching and learning. Lecture Hall B111 in Moench Hall faced several challenges, including outdated technology that limited professors’ teaching capabilities and inconsistent classroom setups that created a learning experience gap across campus. To maintain its reputation as a leader in STEM education, Rose-Hulman sought to modernize this space while standardizing classroom technology across the campus.

Bluewater, a trusted technology partner of Rose-Hulman for over 11 years, was called upon to lead the AV technology updates as part of the renovation. Known for delivering tailored solutions for educational institutions, Bluewater’s team understood the unique requirements of both professors and students.

Through close collaboration with Rose-Hulman stakeholders, Bluewater crafted a comprehensive plan to transform B111 into a cutting-edge educational environment that aligned with the institute’s vision.

To address the challenges in B111, Bluewater implemented the following solutions:

  • Dual-Screen Lecture Setup: Installed dual screens, allowing professors to present content from multiple sources simultaneously, increasing teaching flexibility and engagement.
  • Custom Spectrum Lectern: Integrated a height-adjustable lectern that accommodates various teaching styles, enhancing comfort and functionality for instructors.
  • 7” Touch Panel Control: Installed a user-friendly touch panel for seamless control over volume, media sources, and lighting, simplifying classroom management.

The renovation of B111 has delivered a modern, highly functional lecture hall that supports Rose-Hulman’s mission to provide an innovative learning environment.

  • For Professors: The dual-screen setup and custom lectern have enhanced teaching flexibility, while the intuitive touch panel simplifies classroom management.
  • For Students: Improved seating comfort, device charging capabilities, and optimized acoustics have created a more engaging and comfortable learning experience.

This project exemplifies Rose-Hulman’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between teaching styles and diverse learning preferences while standardizing classroom technology across campus. It stands as a model for future classroom upgrades and reinforces the institution’s position as a leader in STEM education.

The successful renovation of Lecture Hall B111 demonstrates the power of a long-standing partnership between Bluewater and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. With innovative technology solutions and thoughtful design, the project has created a dynamic learning space that empowers both educators and students.
