Indianapolis Motor Speedway

As the racing capital of the world and the esteemed home of The Indianapolis 500, Indianapolis Motor Speedway holds a special place in the hearts of racing enthusiasts. We are proud to have been involved in several updates at the speedway over the years, including our most significant undertaking to date: retrofitting the iconic 92-foot-tall scoring pylon.

Since its establishment in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has witnessed numerous transformations, and Bluewater Technologies has played a role in several of these updates. Collaborating with K-WAV, we embarked on the ambitious task of upgrading the historic scoring pylon with cutting-edge LED technology. This project demanded our utmost expertise and dedication to ensure a seamless integration of the new technology while respecting the speedway’s rich heritage.

We began by skillfully decommissioning the old pylon, recognizing the urgency of the task despite challenging weather conditions. Clearing the way for the new LED installation, we meticulously planned and executed each step to maintain a smooth and efficient process. To facilitate a seamless reassembly, we employed custom stackable cabinets with cable passthroughs, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics.

During the process, our team encountered alignment issues with the substructure, posing a unique challenge. However, with our innovative on-site modifications and the use of chain motors, we overcame these obstacles and ensured that the new scoring pylon stood tall and proud. The result of our efforts was a brand-new and improved landmark that seamlessly merged the speedway’s rich history with cutting-edge technology.

In addition to the scoring pylon project, we addressed another crucial aspect of the speedway experience: ensuring that every single spectator had a clear view of the track. To achieve this, we installed multiple LED video boards strategically positioned around the racetrack.

From the start/finish line, fans now enjoy a perfect view of the high-speed action on an impressive 22′ x 12′ foot tall LED board. This prime location guarantees an exhilarating viewing experience, capturing every thrilling moment of the races.

To provide an even more immersive encounter, we installed a massive 42′ x 24′ foot tall LED board that can be seen by thousands of spectators from various vantage points throughout the course. This grand display captivates the audience, bringing them closer to the heart-pounding action and ensuring an unforgettable experience for all. To further enhance the spectator experience, our team previously assisted with placing a multitude of monitors throughout the seating area. These additional screens supplement the larger LED boards, allowing spectators to catch every moment of the excitement from their seats, no matter where they are located.

With the successful integration of the new LED boards and the multitude of monitors, spectators at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are now guaranteed to witness every thrilling moment of the races.
