Where Sports, Technology, and Fan Engagement Connect

Bluewater partnered with AT&T and THE·TEAM at Fanatics Fest in NYC to bring the AT&T Connection Cup to life. As the activation’s technology partner, Bluewater provided and integrated the technology systems, delivered the game content, and supported the experience live to keep every element working together seamlessly.

The result was an interactive game show that combined celebrity athletes, fan participation, custom production, and dynamic content in a fast-paced experience built for the energy of Fanatics Fest.

Rather than a traditional brand booth, the activation gave fans something they could watch, join, and experience firsthand.

Creating an Interactive Fan Experience

Hosted by studio host and analyst Nate Burleson, the AT&T Connection Cup was a four-day live competition that put fans at the center of the action. Attendees participated in fan-only and celebrity-led matchups, with 14 athletes and celebrity captains drafting fans onto their teams to compete in sports trivia, memorabilia challenges, and physical competitions. Winners competed for exclusive memorabilia, Fanatics FanCash, and bragging rights.

Working alongside AT&T and THE·TEAM, Bluewater brought the technology and game content behind these competitions together within one coordinated system. Our team supported the experience throughout the event, helping each matchup run smoothly for the athletes, participants, and fans watching from the show floor.

Powering the AT&T Connection Cup

A live game show depends on more than what attendees see onstage. Its technology, content, timing, and production cues all need to work together in real time.

As the technology partner, Bluewater’s scope included:

  • Providing the technology systems that powered the live game
  • Delivering and integrating the game content
  • Testing the technical elements before the experience opened
  • Coordinating the technology with the flow and timing of the competition
  • Providing onsite technical operation and support throughout the live activation

Together, these responsibilities allowed Bluewater to manage the experience as one connected technical system rather than a collection of individual components. During Fanatics Fest, the team kept the technology running reliably and the game moving smoothly as athletes and fans participated.

This behind-the-scenes coordination helped create a polished, responsive experience. The technology supported the format and flow of the competition while dynamic game content gave participants and spectators clear visual cues and focal points throughout each round.

Technology Built Around the Live Experience

For an interactive activation, the technology cannot operate as a collection of separate elements. It must respond to the pace of the event and support what is happening in the moment.

Bluewater coordinated the technical systems and content with the live game flow so that each component functioned as part of the same experience. From system integration and pre-event testing to content delivery and onsite technical operation, the team focused on making the technology feel seamless for both participants and spectators.

That reliability allowed the experience itself—not the technology behind it—to remain the focus. Fans could follow the action, react to the competition, and engage with the AT&T brand without interruptions pulling them out of the moment.

Turning a Brand Activation Into a Fan Destination

The AT&T Connection Cup demonstrated how brands can move beyond a standard exhibit footprint and create an experience that invites audiences to participate.

By combining live entertainment, recognizable personalities, fan interaction, custom game content, and an integrated technology system, the activation became a destination within Fanatics Fest—not simply something attendees passed on the show floor.

Every element supported the same goal: creating an energetic, memorable moment for fans. The final experience gave attendees something they could watch, join, photograph, and remember while bringing the AT&T Connection Cup concept to life.
