Creating a SPECTRE

In the heart of Detroit, where creativity pulses through every corner, an extraordinary collaboration unfolded — one that invited guests to close their eyes and open their imaginations. The goal was simple but ambitious: to show that music, when paired with visual storytelling, can transport us beyond the physical into something deeply personal and shared.

Many people go through life unaware of their own capacity to dream — or they’ve simply forgotten how. In a world full of distractions, moments of true immersion and imagination are rare. Detroit Sessions and Library Street Collective asked a bold question: What if we created an experience that reawakened that inner world for everyone in the room?

Enter SPECTRE — a one-night, immersive performance designed to blur the lines between sound, sight, and soul. The evening began with classical artists Ivan Moshchuk and Roberto González-Monjas, whose performance was enveloped by mesmerizing time-based projections from artist Jason Revok, transforming the space into a living canvas of music and light.

As the night deepened, the energy shifted. Tunde Olaniran, joined by pianist Kaleb Waterman and a powerhouse choir, took the stage. Voices rose, rhythms surged, and the atmosphere electrified — not just a performance, but a release, a celebration, a collective crescendo that closed the evening with breathtaking power.

In just one night, SPECTRE reminded its audience of something vital: imagination isn’t just for the few. With the right environment, music and art can unlock something dormant in all of us. It can become a bridge between internal wonder and shared experience.

SPECTRE wasn’t just an event — it was a portal. A collaboration between Detroit Sessions and Library Street Collective that left its mark not only through the night’s performances, but through the lingering question it posed: What worlds live within you, waiting to be heard?
