Hollywood Blacklist

Bluewater Studio, in partnership with Jewish Museum Milwaukee and Crux Creative, designed and produced a new traveling exhibit, “Blacklist: The Hollywood Red Scare.” This exhibit examines the abuse of First Amendment protections under the guise of shielding Americans from Communist threat. Drawing on original film clips and documents, ephemera and dramatic congressional testimony by some of Hollywood’s most noted figures, this exhibit shows how rights were ignored and the motion picture business self-censored its offerings from the public.

“After three years in the making, Jewish Museum Milwaukee is looking forward to finally sharing this exhibit with the public. Blacklist offers a fascinating look into a fearful time in our country’s history and provides the opportunity for visitors to compare ways history continues to repeat itself.” – Ellie Gettinger – JMM Education Director and Curator for the Blacklist Exhibit
