Michigan Central Station | Detroit, MI

When Detroit Met the World of F1

Ford Performance and Red Bull Racing chose Michigan Central Station as the backdrop for a historic announcement: Ford’s return to Formula 1 through a powertrain partnership with Red Bull. With global press, industry leaders, and motorsports fans in attendance, the event needed a visual experience that was as bold and dynamic as the news itself.

Turning the Grand Hall Into a Living Canvas

Bluewater supported Imagination and Ford on this large-scale press event by bringing the space to life with projection mapping unlike anything the venue had seen before. We set up and maintained 24 projectors to map the Grand Hall dome and walls, turning the historic interior into an immersive environment for every moment of the evening. See more here!

To ensure precision and impact, our team:

  • Performed detailed scans of the space

  • Created custom UV maps for accurate 3D projection alignment

  • Programmed visuals that wrapped both dome and vertical surfaces

  • Integrated on-site LED walls (from Winter at the Station) into the broader media canvas

A Seamless Blend of Tech, Space & Story

From vehicle reveals and branded moments to live performances and keynote introductions, the projection mapping served as more than background—it was the visual heartbeat of the event. The content enhanced key moments without overpowering them, contributing to a cohesive, cinematic experience that complemented the excitement in the room.

Built Through True Collaboration

This activation came together through strong partnership with Imagination and the Ford team. By combining technical execution with creative precision, we helped deliver an event that honored the architectural grandeur of Michigan Central while generating global press and unforgettable memories for attendees.
