No one works in silo anymore, so why are conference rooms so inaccessible? The traditional room is large and formal, but people are looking for more informal solutions. Because of expanded teams, employees need flexible spaces to meet anywhere, anytime, with anyone. This approach breaks meetings into two or three smaller spaces.
This shift is towards software video communication (think Zoom, Skype, etc). Organizations are deploying these type solutions that seamlessly integrate between conference rooms, laptops, and mobile which requires a more holistic approach when deploying collaboration technology.
The key trend here is that people are looking to collaborate more. Collaboration is becoming ubiquitous, and includes real-time audio and video. What we expect to see more huddle rooms equipped with thoughtfully installed technology. The downside of the technology today is that it is not always easy, but we expect to see big strides for it in 2018.
Things we expect to continue getting better are: screens sharing, markup, and video. Newer conference room tech will include keypads on the walls and voice activation. This all comes from a demand from customers, as with much technology (especially voice), the question is not “if,” it’s “when” it will be deployed.
