Detroit City Airport transformed to support immersive fundraising gala
The College for Creative Studies (Detroit, MI) & Cadillac/General Motors teamed up to host one of Southeast Michigan’s most premier events; the 34th annual Detroit International Wine Auction. This year’s event titled “The Art of Wine” brought a hundred-year-old hangar at the Detroit City Airport to life, completely transforming it from a concrete and steel home for planes, into a welcoming yet energetic space worthy of the most fabulous wines and auction lots you could imagine.
Lighting elements were extensively used throughout the hangar to set the mood starting from the outside entry where the building was branded with a new name for the evening “CCS HANGAR” and classic GM vehicles sat softly lit. Inside a runway welcomes guests, landing them in a step & repeat where a photo could be taken. Throughout the venue these type of creative lighting treatments, textures, and movement were used to add excitement and character. In the dining area a massive 20×40 LED video wall was setup on stage to run the evenings programming and provide support for the live entertainment: Macklemore with Ryan Lewis. This event was a perfect example of the intersections that create immersive experiences!
