In celebration of Bluewater’s 30th anniversary, we kicked off a community service initiative to give back to our communities in the biggest way we felt possible: Donating our time. Our goal throughout 2016 was to donate 3,000 hours of time. Continuing into 2017 our goal is to surpass that!
The only guidelines for this effort are that donations must be for a nonprofit organization and the timing must be during what would be normal work hours. Bluewater is giving all full-time employees two paid days or 16 hours to be able to use how they feel is best to give back. We want our employees to take time away from work to help the community — many of our employees already contribute their personal time to amazing causes and we want to empower them to continue that giving through the week.
Time is the most valuable commodity there is, and we believe that donating it helps create good, not only in the community, but also in the lives of Bluewater’s employees. Some of the organizations that we have worked with to date include Habitat for Humanity, Fisher House Foundation, Forgotten Harvest, Gleaners Food Bank, March of Dimes, Gilda’s Club, The Aitch Foundation, St. Baldrick’s, and the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation. The best part is, every day the list keeps growing as we continue to be inspired by the good discovered around us.
